Mr. Lang enjoyed a successful career with more than 20 years in the corporate world as a senior vice president working in brokerage and the trust investment division of commercial banks. In the post 911 period he temporarily left his banking career to serve as a special deputy with the u. S. Marshal service. He worked with the U.S. Dept. Of Homeland Security as a federal liaison for law enforcement, interfacing with airlines and airport authorities. He was a member of the anti-terrorist advisory council board (organized by the U.S. Attorney's office) and frequently served as key speaker on terrorism at quarterly regional meetings. He belonged to the UFO organization MUFON and completed training to become a certified field investigator. He was eventually appointed as chief investigator for both virginia and north carolina. He was one of the original 6 members of the mufon star team and the first manager of the team. In 2009 Richard managed the BAASS /MUFON SIP project, that was facilitated through Bigelow aerospace and funded by the defense intelligence agency. At that time this was the most advanced, funded, rapid response ufo / uap investigative team in the world. Dale Sobotka Experiencer Support Team Dale Sobotka, M.D.(retired), was Founder and Medical Director of Pacific Stress Medicine, P.S. He conducted a private practice in general adult psychiatry for over 30 years in the Seattle-Everett, Washington area before retiring in 2020. Since approximately 1989, he has had the privilege of interviewing, and where needed, working with, nearly 100 individuals having reports of alien abduction or contact experiences. Denny Johnson Experiencer Support Team Denny Johnson has been researching and working with experiencers since 2016. He served as a certified field investigator for MUFON from 2016 to 2019. Denny is a retired lawyer who spent his whole career working with clients in stressful situations, and he fully understands the need for confidentiality in these matters. Aleta DeBee Experiencer Support Team While working with Experiencers for over 7 years, Aleta has faced some of their fundamental questions, like why we are here, how we are related to visitors from other places, times, and dimensions. LeLieuvre, Lester Velez, and Michael Freeman explores the experiences of abductees/experiencers compared to community comparison control participants. The authors reference previous research that compared Near-Death experiences with UFO encounters and found similarities in antecedent life experiences and consequences of these encounters, as well as in the control groups for each type of experience. They suggest that encounter-prone personalities may result from heightened sensitivity to altered states, early paranormal experiences, childhood conflict and trauma, leading to dissociation as a coping mechanism. OMEGA-4 STUDY Phase 1: Survey of Therapists Whose Clients Report Contact with Nonhuman Intelligent Beings (NHIBs) Robert Scalpone, Lester Velez DOWNLOAD PDF Over the past few decades, numerous studies have aimed to understand the psychology of individuals who claim contact with nonhuman intelligent beings (NHIBs), involving abduction and medical examinations by these beings. Despite the potential trauma associated with such encounters, researchers have generally found no evidence of pervasive mental health issues or social marginality in those reporting contact. Various psychogenic explanations, like false memory syndrome, sleep paralysis, and childhood trauma, have been tested and rejected as causes of these experiences. Instead, individuals who report contact with NHIBs may undergo an "ontological shock," akin to near-death experiences, leading to lasting changes in attitudes, values, and behavior. Their reality perspective may be permanently altered, and they may develop interests in extraterrestrial life, spirituality, and higher consciousness. The Omega-4 Study was undertaken to explore how experiencers successfully cope with and integrate these extraordinary and traumatic experiences into their lives. Request Support Services Experience Support The sometimes disturbing, difficult to believe or spiritual nature of anomalous experiences might lead an individual to seek professional help, but because these experiences often fall outside the realm of what is considered “normal”, there is often a lack of professionals willing or able to work with these issues. OPUS has recognized the need for a clearinghouse where an Experiencer can receive assistance in locating and choosing a professional who is knowledgeable about a particular experience in question. OPUS can refer the Experiencers to physicians, licensed mental health practitioners, consultants, investigators and alternative health assistants. OPUS also refers to support groups of all kinds where experiencers can share feelings and concerns without fear of ridicule or embarrassment, while learning to understand, bridge and integrate what happened to them into daily life. Recently, in addition to our face to face support group, OPUS has created an international “on-line” support group which can only be accessed by the members and is available 24/7.
